What is a Dental Appliance?
We need to do more than simply brushing and flossing to maintain good oral health. Protecting our smile is an essential part of a complete oral health routine, and this is imperative for those of us who play sports, clench or grind our teeth, or who snore.
Dental appliances can help preserve and protect our oral health. At Dental One Bankers Hall, we offer dental appliances – such as mouth guards and sleep apnea devices – to help improve and protect the health of your oral cavity.
Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances
Your sleep and your overall health and wellbeing can all be negatively impacted by sleep disorders.
For patients who snore, their relaxed throat tissues cause the airway to become blocked, creating the sound we all recognize as snoring as oxygen is forced past. For patients with sleep apnea, their throat tissues over-relax, obstructing the airway. The brain prompts them to wake so they can breathe.
At Dental One Bankers Hall, we offer Sleep Therapy and custom-fitted oral appliances to move the lower jaw and tongue muscles in order to open the airway. This aids in improving airflow and prevents you from waking during the night.
Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards
At Dental One Bankers Hall, we offer custom-made mouth guards that fit over your teeth to protect them from damage.
Sports Guards
If you take a hit to the mouth during sports activity, a mouth guard will act as a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth to protect your smile.
Night Guards
Do you grind your teeth while you sleep? A mouth guard can protect your smile from damage. If jaw clenching is your issue, a mouth guard will also help prevent you from clenching and provide some pain relief.
